Rain Gets Best of Racing at ABC Saturday by Nick Gima Ashland, WI, June 5 -- Precipitation which had spoiled the anticipated racing fun at several tracks around the region waited until the last moment before dumping on the ABC Raceway on Saturday night. The northern Wisconsin speedplant’s annual Kids’ Meet the Drivers Night festivities, presented by Little Caesar’s Pizza, was washed out when light rains moved into the area around 4:30 pm local time, then became heavy enough an hour later to force track officials’ hands into making the call to cancel the AmsOil Dirt Track Series program. A decision will be made regarding a possible rescheduling of the popular “meet-and-greet” activities during the Monday, June 7, Board meeting, and that decision will be posted on this website later that evening. On Saturday, June 12, Xtreme Sign & Graphix and X-Wraps of Ashland will present a full night of exciting stock-car racing action at the three-eighth-mile red clay oval. All five classes - WISSOTA-sanctioned modifieds, super stocks and Midwest modifieds, plus the track’s own pure stocks and six-cylinders - will run their hot laps beginning at 6:15 pm, and the first green flag of the night is scheduled be thrown at 7. Adult tickets are just $10 each, and kids ages 12 and under are welcome for free with a paid adult admission. The ABC Raceway is located 3-1/2 miles south of Ashland on State Highway 13 and one mile west on Butterworth Road. “Race Night” will air Saturday on WBSZ, 93.3 FM, from 4:30-6 pm with up-to-date track news and weather information.
